LILJEVALCHS
ART HALL
Liljevalchs konsthall, a museum of Swedish and
international art, has Stockholm's most beautiful exhibition environment.
Every year it is host to four exhibitions of contemporary and modern
art. Recurring features are the Liljevalchs mid-career retrospectives
as well as the Spring Salon. The museum opened in 1916 and is owned
by the City of Stockholm. Liljevalchs is the Stockholmers' own museum
- one that is equally welcoming to visitors from around the country
and abroad. Blå Porten (The Blue Gate) and its garden, located
in conjunction with the museum, is a favorite destination for restaurant
and café-goers. Blå Porten, with its award-winning cuisine,
always houses one of the museum's smaller exhibitions.

NORDISKA MUSEET
The Nordiska museet is Swedens largest
museum for cultural history, showing trends, traditions, life and
work in Sweden from 1520 to the present day. In the exhibitions
you can see folk art, textiles, fashion, furniture, paintings, photographs

childrens playroom.
The present museum building, which opened its
doors in 1907, is built like a Scandinavian renaissance palace and
it is a well known silhouette in Stockholm. The name of the architect
is Isak Gustaf Clason. It is a magnificent experience to enter the
museums great hall, which is 126 metres long, 15 metres wide
and reaches 24 metres up to the beautiful ceiling. The hall is unique
of its kind. In the evenings it may be rented for private banquets,
mingling, fashion shows, product launches and weddings.
The museum is open Mon-Tue, Thu-Fri 10-16, Wed 10-20
(free admission 16-20), Sat-Sun 11-17. From June to August daily

WALDEMARSUDDE
The beautiful former home of Prince Eugen (1865-1947)
is today an art museum with a unique collection of Swedish art from
the turn-of-the-century 1900. The Museum also hosts temporary exhibitions

ROSENDALS PALACE
This castle serves as a unique document of the
Empire style in Europe. Built in 1820 for King Karl XIV Johan, Rosendal
was the out-of-town residence to which the royal family could retreat
and enjoy the summer in Djurgården.

SKANSEN
Skansen is a living history museum founded in
1891. Feel the beating of historys wings as you inspect the
farmhouses, tools and utensils of a bygone age. See wild and domestic

THE
VASA MUSEUM
The Vasa is the worlds only surviving 17th-century
ship. With over 95 percent of its original parts preserved, and ornamented
with hundreds of carved sculptures, the Vasa is a unique art treasure
and one of the foremost tourist sights in the world.
The ship is displayed in a purpose-built museum
in Stockholm which also houses nine related exhibitions, a well-stocked
shop and a high-class restaurant. The film about the Vasa can be
viewed in sixteen languages. The Vasa Museum attracts more visitors
than any other museum in Scandinavia. It is well worth visiting
